I was looking for a new dessert place to try when we were in the area for lunch (Mandalay Burmese). Hubby was intrigued by the Srilankan black tea soft server so we took a short walk to this place.
It is a small storefront and there is no seating. They have a small menu primarily focused on Matcha flavors. The other flavor is black tea. There is soft serve, Mille crepe cakes, smoothies, and some other beverages.
We ordered Black team soft serve ($5) and it was sooo yummy. It comes in a dark chocolate waffle cone. The black tea taste is intense so you do need to like black tea or Indian tea taste.
We had ordered one cone to share as we were not sure whether we will like it.
The consistency is more of a froyo than ice cream.I will be back to try Mille crepe cake. -

In a time when matcha soft serve is everywhere, I appreciate that Uji Matcha has a black tea soft serve.
The black tea soft serve has a strong tea flavor which I LOVE and a perfect balance of creaminess and sweetness. Super refreshing on a rare hot day in SF (we came in here when it was 90 degrees).
I also ordered their mango extreme, which is a mango smoothie with cheese cream topping. It was delicious and I can taste the mango chunks. Some of my friends say it's quite sweet but I think it's really good!
I don't think they carry the salty egg yolk soft serve anymore which makes me sad. Please bring it back!
Tips: This location in Richmond only has a pickup window and not much room to sit. -

Great little spot to grab ice cream after dinner in the Richmond district
1)Matcha soft serve is soft and creamy. Authentic green tea flavor
2)Black Tea ice cream was my favorite. Nice balance between sweet and tea flavor. Not usually available at most other soft serve and ice cream shops -

First of all, props to these guys for making a salted egg soft serve special, just for the mid-autumn festival season! Wow and a charcoal cone to boot!! $4.90 kinda expensive... but I'll pay and travel for unique food finds! You can ask for a sample and then you'll realize you definitely want this!
Now the match flavor wasn't impressive. I would much rather get the matcha soft serve at Stonestown, which tasted way more flavorful. Everything else on the menu seemed kinda pricey for the small portions. I didn't like that this place is just a storefront window with absolutely no place to sit. Worth the try and might come back to see what other flavors they come up with. -

Amausaan Uji Matcha is a (literal) hole in the wall matcha and ice cream shop. They have a small selection of matcha drinks, matcha ice cream, and black tea ice cream.
-- Matcha Ice Cream --
I ordered a Matcha Ice Cream Cone and loved it! Tasty and fairly priced. Notably, this might not be for everyone. It tastes like matcha and there is matcha sprinkled on top. It's very bitter, don't expect a super sweet sugary snack.
-- Atmosphere --
The shop only has a walk-up window. There is no inside customer area, outdoor seating, or restroom.
-- Service --
There was only one employee working when I visited and the kitchen area doesn't appear large enough for any additional staff. It took a minute or two to order, pay, and receive the ice cream. No complaints there! They accept cards via Square.
